Cute Rainbows and Sunshine

It has been a very long week, perhaps because it is the first full week after the Memorial Day holiday.  We finally got some rain, YAY!  It has been a very dry Spring here in NH.  Some of our other highlights....

Music:  Amelia's new class started this week.  She is taking Move, Shake, and Sing at the Concord Community Music School.  It was a blast!  Her new teacher, Miss Heather, was amazing.  Amelia played instruments, sang songs, and danced with beautiful scarfs.  We also had out first naughty incident... she hit another child because it was his turn to pick an animal from the story book.  She just walked up and hit him right in the back.  I was shocked!  He seemed unphased but she still was made to apologize.  2 is so fun.  We look forward to attending this class again next week and to future classes at the CCMS.  Bonus!  There is a park right next to the music school, so Amelia is extra thrilled.  So Tuesdays are now Music School/Park day.

Strawberries!  The strawberries are slowing becoming ripe.  Everyday Aaron and Amelia walk down to the garden and the two of them eat every red strawberry they can find.  I doubt a single strawberry will ever make it into the house.  Good thing we have a tradition of going to a local farm and picking as many strawberries as we can carry to make Jam or it would be a very sad winter.

Master Chef.  Aaron and I have a few shows that we always watch together.  In the Spring it is Masterchef.  We are 3 episodes in and it is so much fun to watch these homes cooks.  We aren't huge fans of the new judge, but we'll give her some time to try and win us over.  The contestants this year have some colorful personalities...... some we enjoy..... others not as much.  We love Steve and Katrina, they are just fun to watch.  We also have lots of fun trying to predict outcomes and sometimes we are inspired to have our own masterchef night at home, although it hasn't happened yet this season.

Garden:  In addition to strawberries we are growing lots of other things.  For the first time ever I am growing carrots and beets.  Is it just me, or are root veggies horribly frustrating.  I want so badly to see if they are growing.  Some green plant life has poked through the soil.... is this the top of my lovingly planted veggies or a weed?  I can't tell.  I guess patience and time will tell but I so badly just want to dig in the dirt and get some hard evidence that something edible is growing and Im not wasting 8 square feet of garden space.  My other crops are doing really well with the exception of cucumbers which aren't happy yet but will be when I give them some more nitrogen to snack on.  Who knew plants were so picky about what they eat.  Just wait cucumber..... you will be a yummy pickle someday if you play your cards right.

Bees:  Aaron had "Bee Day" recently.  He bought 2 new packages of bees and 2 new queens and we started our bee farm over from scratch.  Between the bear attack last Spring and the very long winter our bees didn't make it.  It was very sad, but we knew they were weak at the start of the winter so we weren't surprised and the grieving period has come and gone.  The 2 new hives are doing well and hopefully our electric fence protects them from any bears.  Amelia LOVES the bees.  She talks about bees, she make bee sounds (bbbbeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzz.... followed by tickles), and whenever Daddy checks the bees she watches carefully.  Next year we will get her a bee suit for her birthday.  Yesterday while working out side one of our honey bees was visiting the flowers in front of the house.  Amelia saw hime and yelled "BEE" and then tried to catch him.  We're working on the look and don't touch concept.  Thankfully she didn't catch him.

Kisses:  Just a cute note about Amelia.  She loves to have her forehead kissed.  She will kiss you square on the lips but then she bows her head in anticipation of a forehead kiss.  Yesterday Aaron came home for lunch.  When he went to leave Amelia chased him down the sidewalk "mmmmm" that means Kiss.  He bent over, kissed her on the lips and proceeded toward his truck.  She kept following him "mmmmm" but this time she was pointing to her forehead with the index finger from each hand (like finger guns to both sides of her head).  We had a good laugh and he gave her a forehead kiss after which she yelled "Goodbye".  She is just so cute, we are both in love with her.

Our week wasn't all cute rainbows and sunshine but overall it was a great week.
